Meditation Group

Our meditation group has been active at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Houlton for over twenty years

We meet in what we call the “parlor zendo” at the church. The UUHoulton Sangha (Buddhist term for spiritual community) meets once a month for spiritual practice and mutual support.

A typical session includes two twenty minute sittings (zazen) interspersed with mindful walking (kinhin) followed by readings on meditation practice and conversation with tea.

Our members come from various meditation traditions and our simple format allows each practitioner to follow their way.

also offer basic instruction for those who are new to the practice.

Due to ongoing Covid-19 considerations our group is currently meeting on Tuesday evening at 5:30PM via Zoom. This has worked so well we are now meeting every other week instead of once a month.
