I am missing seeing you all in person every Sunday, but very happy to “attend” services and this week’s UU Board meeting by Zoom. My thanks to the many of you for the phone calls, visits, emails, and food offerings while I await my January 22nd appointment with Aroostook Orthopedic to figure out what’s going on with my hip. I am very grateful to all of the UU Board members and others who are helping our church carry on as usual. At our last Board session, we were joined by Emily Cherry, the New England UUA Congregational Life Field Representative who will be helping us to discern the best way to approach possible interim ministerial leadership. We all are looking forward to ongoing work with Emily! In the meantime, I encourage you to continue to attend services as you are able, in person or online. Showing up with the gift of your presence will strengthen our beloved church family and offer comfort for these tumultuous times in our nation. And two important reminders:Be sure to take a moment to complete the ministerial committee’s survey online or via paper copies that the group will distribute at Sunday’s service. Your voice matters as we continue to plan lay-led services!Don’t forget Rev. Dave’s retirement celebration next Saturday, January 24, at 2p in The Cup. Bring your most impressive treats – for a dessert potluck that will give Dave the sweet send-off he deserves – and your favorite memories of Dave and the UU over the past 25 years. If you can’t be here in person, we’re welcoming friends near and far to join by Zoom (Meeting ID: 869 1176 7691 Passcode: 803752). Sending you all love and appreciation! This Sunday’s Service Our January 18th service – “Don’t Sleep Through the Revolution”, led by Kathryn Harnish – celebrates the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with excerpts from his 1966 Ware Lecture to the UUA and reflection on what his words mean to us as Unitarian Universalists today. For those of you interested in joining via Zoom this week, here are all of the details you need:Zoom LinkMeeting ID: 892 4177 4479 Passcode: 668102 January 11th Service There is no recorded service this week, as inclement weather prevented us from gathering in person last Sunday. Instead, 18 individuals joined an online social hour and reflection on the week’s heartbreaking news from Minneapolis. What a wonderful way to stay connected when our northern Maine winter keeps us apart! (Randi and Ira’s planned service, “UU for You”, has been rescheduled for next Sunday, January 25.
