It’s hard to believe it’s already the end of January, but that means the new year is gaining momentum and I’m finally starting to get the correct date on my bank checks and correspondence. Rev. Mary Blocher is leading our service on Sunday and the title of the talk is” Please Understand Me!” 

The talk will cover briefly the Myers Briggs Scale and then explore how to engage in conversation with people of different types. Knowing this skill may help us when we are in difficult conversations with people of different opinions. 

If you would like to lead a service (or work together with someone else) we are currently filling slots for the winter and spring on our sign-up list. The list is located in the coffee room or you can speak with the minister. Many voices make a strong community. 

Our YouTube service this week is part six in our continuing series on Belonging and is titled “Removing Barriers.” 

Sometimes we are not even aware of the barriers. That, in itself, makes the barrier fundamentally difficult to remove. Building bridges and removing barriers are intricately linked. You will find the link listed below. Please join us for one of the services this weekend. 

I will not be at the service on Sunday as I will be speaking at the UU Church in Bangor covering for their minister Rev. Drew Moeller who is on sabbatical. Here is a short description of the topic and a link to the zoom service in case you’d like to check it out.

Hopeful Things

The last several years have been years like none other; a global pandemic, economic stressors, racial unrest and a polarized political environment that is still sorting itself out. We’ve had a lot on the plate, so to speak, so in this talk we take a look at some of the positive things going on, at the same time as the difficult things – our attempt to balance it all out a bit. The title of the talk is “Hopeful Things.”The service will be led by Rev. David Hutchinson, minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Houlton, with Laurie Cartier, Francis Grey, and Ben Goff as our worship team.
